Macrostructure Examination

Macroscopic examination applies to etched or non-etched specimens with naked eye or small magnification. Macro examination is generally performed on the cross section as an independent test to evaluate subsurface conditions or as a subsequent step of another test to reveal the effects on the subsurface.
